Last night I had the privilege of seeing Beach House at Webster Hall, around the corner from my house. I was thoroughly blown away by the power of Victoria Legrand's voice, the incredible use of looping, prerecorded sounds and live musicianship, and the kickass light show.

It's really lovely having visitors, and this weekend I hosted my friend Marissa from Toronto. I welcomed her to NY with a trip to Murray's Bagels, and then we ran back to my apartment to get ready for our evening adventures. We met up with my friend Caroline around 3:30 and headed to the Met (the museum, not the Opera company). Our whole plan was to take advantage of the Met's Saturday Balcony bar, complete with a string quartet, and roam the museum through the evening. We even got all dressed up!

What a better way to spend a Thursday evening that indulging in all manners of insane deserts at the Momofuku Milk Bar? Part of the Momofuku empire of restaurants, this little place is just 5 minutes from my apartment, and is a total adventure for your taste buds. So Caroline and I went a little overboard cause it was our first visit. We got: Candy Bar Pie, French Toast Soft Serve, Birthday Cake Truffles, Apple Pie Truffles and a Compost Cookie. Whatever, you would too.

I'm back! So before I get to this past weekend which totally wicked awesome, I should say that things have generally been pretty awesome since I got back.

One highlight was going to visit my friend Jake at his new pad in Harlem. Originally planning to cook dinner and then go see "Inside Job", that documentary about the financial crisis, Jake, myself, and our friend Alex found ourselves suddenly preparing dinner for about 10 of Jake's Columbia friends. Jake and I ran around Harlem getting food. We ended up at Sea & Sea Fish Market, which was a really cool fishmarket where in addition to a large selection of fresh fish, they also will steam or fry your fish for you in the back. Since we were cooking for so many, we ended up buying mussels.
