wake up, you live in new york city

You must wonder, where the heck has this girl been? Well, after shooting back to Toronto for a week-off (more like a week of studying with a few fun Toronto-related study breaks), I returned to NYC to a big dumping of school work. Nonetheless, I've had a few nice "wake up you live in New York" occasions.

One took place when I was riding the subway back from work uptown to my house, and I had one of those NY subway moments. I was standing looking through the glass in the subway doors, and meanwhile another subway, traveling in our same direction, synched up with our train, and our two trains were traveling side by side, almost as one. My eyes caught those of an elderly gentleman on the train running parallel to mine, also staring through the glass door. We both smiled at each other. Brief magic. And then suddenly,  a wall. Separation. And we are plunged into darkness.

There have been other New York moments. Walking to class from work every week I make sure to walk right by Radio City Music Hall and Rockefeller Center, just to remind myself where I am. Last week, I decided to stop off in Grand Central Station, and after a group meeting at the midtown NYU campus, I did work in the grand reading room at the NY Public Library.
