Goodbye NY (for a short while)

Before leaving for break I decided to do a few super touristy "Christmas in NY" things. My friend Ben was in town so I took him to Caracas Arepa Bar for arepas and PBR and then to Yaffa Cafe which is a fun and eccentrically decorated 24 hour restaurant/cafe. Ben ordered something that was basically almond syrup and steamed milk and was really excited about it. The next day we went to the Chelsea Market for brunch, where we had an amazing meal at Friedman's Lunch, and incredibly decadent hot chocolate from the famed Jacques Torres which we drank as we walked along the High Line.  Then I went home, finished my paper, and spent the evening making crafts and eating treats with some lovely ladies in my building.

Ben in Chelsea Market (and so excited to be there!)

These cakes reminded me of the kinds of intricate bday cakes my mom used to make me when I was a kid

Another view of the market, one of my new favourite places
Today I ran around doing some last minute errands, picking up some gifts, dropping off my last paper (woo!), getting my eyebrows done and, of course, grabbing a final bagel from Murray's with lox spread. I then met up with some friends up in midtown to go see the Rockefeller tree. I'm glad I don't skate because it was SUPER packed and super expensive.

Tourist shot!

So-many-people

Couldn't ask for a better floor-mate!

Inside St Patrick's cathedral (why do I love cathedrals so much?)

So I leave tomorrow, I'm (almost) packed, and excited to see my friends and family again. But I would be lying if I didn't say I'll be a little sad to be leaving Manhattan.
